[IRCA] mid-ocean report 12 Sept
I think I have to agree with those who said this wasn't one of the better
mornings. In fact, it was closer to the disappointing couple of days at the
beginning of my listening, and I looked at Nigel's and John's loggings thinking,
why aren't I hearing that? (well, my antenna's a little underpowered perhaps)
In fact, at one point I just stopped on 738 and listened to the island music
booming in from Radio Polynesie (yes, with an ID after the song). The fact that
I don't often hear this in the morning points to the different conditions.
But there still seemed a mixture of Japan, China, Korea and Australia, with the
Filipino on 1314 ruling the channel again, just that signal levels were
generally down. Did snag China on 549 //765 however, and likely DZAT on 1512
w/Tagalog preaching. There were a couple of mysteries: one was
sub-continental chanting on 1260 about equal with JOIR, another was odd slow
singing on 1098, continuous pop mx on 1224 (hmmm, Marshalls?), and CC fighting
with JOLF-1242 at times.
Just a couple more days unfortunately (except that means eventually I get to go
home, which has a certain appeal also).
best wishes,
Nick
