[IRCA] TPs Orcas Island: Sept 10th
Walter and I were hearing a bit of a different band again this
morning: I had a truly excellent morning on the low band, with it
pretty well full below 1070. About half of those ... well maybe a fat
third, were at quite listenable levels. The upper band was pretty
sparse (15 audios), though the real hard core was up there, most at
listenable levels.
There were several interesting things this AM... CNR1 on 540 is a
rare visitor here; Voice of Vietnam on 675 (a solid 8) was by far the
strongest of the season... and it is darn sure Vietnamese; 765 was
something just at strong threshold level, but with a clear echo on
it, maybe even two echoes. The only multiple that I see listed is one
of the smaller commercial JJs. Hummmm.
720 had a Chinese speaker for a while, probably CNR2 and the Russian
was behind 1070, one of the few times here on Orcas when its been
strong enough to compete with my local KPUG, 20 miles away.
One of the more intriguing threshold+ stations continues to be 1512,
which is not the Australian. I'm pretty sure that it is a collective
signal from several small NHK2 Synchros.
Major questions: Does CNR2 still run EE from 1300 to 1400? Has anyone
checked out the SWBC parallels yet this season??? I've got several
channels that MIGHT be CNR2, but they are darn sure in CC.
So, here I had an excellent low band morning. What fun!!!
