[IRCA] Major PVC Loop Article Uploaded to DXer.Ca & Ultralightdx

Hello All,

During the spring and summer, serious experimentation into large
PVC-framed tuned passive loops (of up to 9 feet per side) was undertaken here, which
included the actual building of ten different loops-- with sizes ranging
from 18" to 9' per side

Finding PVC to be an ideal, lightweight frame material which offered great
structural strength (if the proper PVC diameter was used), I was fascinated
with the cost-to-performance ratio of these inexpensive loops-- even to
the point of writing a full construction article suitable for building any
one of the ten sizes (they all use a standard frame design). This major PVC
Loop article has just been uploaded to the "ULR Antenna" section of the ULR
File area on _http://www.dxer.ca_ (http://www.dxer.ca) , and to the
Antenna section of the Library File of the Ultralightdx Yahoo site.

Prepared with major assistance from John Bryant and Steve Ratzlaff, the
article includes full pipe size, wire length, coil turn, weight, cost, and
frequency coverage information for nine different Medium-Wave loops-- of
18.5", 25.5", 40", 48", 63", 66", 75", 91" and 109" per side, as well as a
Longwave model of 77" per side. All of the Medium-Wave loops can be built for
under $55 in total cost, and none of them weighs more than 16 pounds-- even
the monster 9' sided model.

It is hoped that this fascinating experimentation will give a boost in
DXing fun to users of both Ultralight and table receivers, and open up an
exciting new world of weak-signal DXing to hobbyists in both groups.
