[IRCA] Cortes Island TPs 5 July

Like Steve said, not so good....most of the audible signals rarely ventured into readable territory.

1116 at 1057UT, pop mx briefly fair, presumably 4BC. This one ended up being the gold standard of the morning, generally being audible, sometimes at quite good level to well past 1200UT.

279 was heard at 1059UT w/ RR talk, poor but building to good after 1100 and often returned to this level over the next half hour. This was with one ALA100 alone, as the phased units don't do well on LW.

1287 JJ talk, briefly poor 1117UT; JOHR

774 presumably JOUB, man going on and on, murky, never more than fair, and not really recognizable JJ, but seemed parallel with 828 at times. 594 had unrecognizable talk at 1120UT as well, possibly JOAK.

1053 presumably also Asiatic, with the 100Hz hum (sidebands) noted last spring; this at 1122UT

by 1137UT, noticeably different signal on 774, presumably 3LO, as was parallel with 2BL-702 at 1207UT

1098 big carrier after 1145ish or so, but no audio.

738 Tahiti. FF talk at 1203

a number of near readable signals after 1200UT on the usual DU channels such as 702, 774, 828, 891, 936, 1008, etc., particularly on the lower band, though 1503 and 1512 were both heard as well, with traces on 1611.

Back home today, so DX will get a whole lot duller than this...

best wishes,

Nick
