Re: [IRCA] Tecsun PL-300WT and Grundig G8
I got my PL-300WT yesterday from liypn yesterday in about 8 days-
can't beat that! It had no manual with it either.
I got a silver radio. I didn't specify color, but I think I should
have asked for black. ;)
First impressions- quirky in operation, almost like a KA-1103. The
"beep" when you hit a button can almost wake the dead. I see it has a
"speed scan" tuner that acts a lot like my DX-440. When you dial the
band quickly, the tuning steps go from 1 khz to 10 khz. It's annoying
on my DX-440 but tolerable on the PL-300WT since there is no keypad.
FM reception seems very good. MW also seems good. Everyone says its
a turkey on SW. A quick scan through 49 meters picked up most of the
usual suspects. I'm going to put it through its paces over the next
few days.
I'm worried about the lid that covers the clock dial. It has only one
hinge and looks like it could break off easily.
Except for the fact that it looks like I could have ordered it through
Amazaon and saved a bundle in shipping, I'm happy with it so far.
