Re: [IRCA] Wi-Fi legality
Hey Patrick;
You've mentioned (and received some replies about it IIRC) "leaky
cable." I would ask the cable provider to send out an RF expert to do
some sort of RFI check and look for the culprit. I know that Charter
may be in tough times but sometimes the local offices of major companies
still want to provide great service, regardless of what Corporate HQ is
going through. Power companies are even more helpful. Maybe it's a bad
splitter or one run is bad. Do you have digital cable? If so, leaky
runs can destroy the signal and make the digital channels (and HD) break
up, unpleasantly. I have AT&T U-verse and at the first sign of
pixelation, I call. One was a bad duplexor and another a bad ground
connection. U-verse probably has more RF issues than cable, from the
back-up battery and required Router but I can use a ULR within 6' of
them with no issues. I'd see about getting the leaky cable issue fixed.

That is too bad Walt. Here, it doesn't look like any DSL unless someone
pays $1500 to get it here. Our population in Clatsop Plains is not
enough to warrant them to spend the money needed. DSL is less than cable
internet, but who wants to spend $1500. A person would really want it
bad or have lots of money. We do have cable, but again it is leaky. The
pros & cons of living in rurall areas.
