Re: [IRCA] 2009 Ultralight Radio Shootout Contestants

Hello Neil,

The new E100's are still available from many sources, including some
great bargains on eBay currently. "Zoaxiselectronics" in selling new units for
$45 shipped, and "oceansno.1" is selling like-new units for a going rate of
about $15, plus $18 UPS shipping to here (WA state). I've ordered from both
these sellers, and found the models to be outstanding in both function and
appearance. They were also of the "modifiable" type, with the ability to
accept the Murata CFJ455K5 IF filter and new Slider loopstick (for greatly
improved 9 kHz transoceanic DX performance).

Universal Radio is selling the "new" Grundig G-100's (an obviously
re-packaged E100 made by the same Tecsun factory) for $99.00 plus shipping, but I
can't imagine why anyone would want to pay over twice as much for the same
new E100 they can get on eBay.

     73, Gary

It is no surprise to me that the E100 is good on FM. The E1 is the best FM
portable I've ever seen.

Are E100's still available, or does the same rx go by a different name now ?
