[IRCA] TP for 3 Feb from Victoria, BC

Mildly better this morning than it has been the last couple of days; I've been away, so using the propagation monitor to make that evaluation.

Listened from 1420-1440, 1510-1520, 1535 onwards in bits and pieces. Most interesting was "barely there" audio on 972, 1287, 1566 and 1575 around 1640UT. And using a preamplifier, was getting occasional fade-ups of what sounds like RR talk as late as 1750UT on 1566, final traces of choral mx at 1759, and faded down for the hour. (oh, and 774 and 828 were quite readable at various points during their 1600 s/off; so was 972, and Walt's already noted 1566 and 1575's strength at that time)

The signal strengths at the earlier listening times made me wonder if the times when Dennis was listening would have been better yet.

pretty darn good audio (at least briefly):

774 JOUB
828 JOBB

reasonable audio at times during the period (though often battling w/splash or noise):

594 JOAK
972 HLCA, as always big carrier; came through at this level 1433
1377 CNR-1 //5030 at 1426UT
1566 HLAZ maximum at 1540UT again

not so reasonable audio, occasional words in splash or noise:
639 CNR-1 //5030 at 1420UT
648 presumed VoR at 1435, but no //
747 JOIB at 1442
1557 likely Family R., Taiwan w/ man talking slowly at 1539UT
1575 at 1436UT and up to 1600.

Burbles in the splatter and noise:

576
1134
1206 at 1421, likely China
1278 at 1441
1287 at 1640UT, not noted earlier though
1386 at 1541, sounded CC? not //NHK2
1503 JOUK at 1535UT //594

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): most noticeable: 756, 1242, 1305, 1314, 1323

best wishes,

Nick
