[IRCA] Magnetic verius electronic waves
Met a ham operator at an unrelated event the other day and he was insistent
about a device one can order from the U.K. for a few hundred dollars that
allows you to receive magnetic waves only, as opposed to electronic waves.
He said these magnetic waves are many db quieter. Is this bunk or is there
any truth to this? He seemed serious, we've never met before, there were no
other DXers present (it was an event for people working in environmental
industries), and he raised this as soon as I told him I DXed the broadcast
bands (he mentioned in a group conversation earlier that he was a ham). So
is he a ham in more ways than one, or is this legit?
