Re: [IRCA] Antenna Projects (Crate Loop)

Dennis,

I had a 4' NRC Box Loop back in the 60s-70s also. Worked wonders. Also had a homemade adaptation to the box loop, this one made by Don Kenney of L.A. That worked even better. Best one tho was the Wedge Loop in the late 70s, made by my wife from plans in the IRCA DX Monitor. This one was a real peach. I remember bringing KPQ in over KSFO for over an hour one evening. Hearing KOMW Omak's 1000 cps tone behind KNBR when they were on a dx test. Even some talk made out. Cayman Islands & Phillipines together on 1555.....It's one big problem tho was it's size. In a small place it is very cumbersome.

Good Evening,

I have the Kiwa loop, Space magnet, Terk, and Twin coil ferrite loop.
The best loop that I have own was a 4' NRC box loop back in the 80's-70's. From the Bay Area I could pull in KFI 640 LA in at noon
if I carefully aimed the loop at the UCB tower. New Zealand, Australia,
and a lot of the Asian TP's were heard on the NRC 4' loop. Of course
that was in the early 80's when TP's were at their best. I believe Gordon Nelson designed this loop.
