[IRCA] ULTRALIGHT DX...New One Logged...960 CFAN Calgary, ALBERTA............

Hi Guys:

  After seeing several tips on the reflectors that many were hearing a 
Probable CFAN 960 from Calgary...I dug out the Sony SF-T615 and camped out 
on the Frequency!! There were several stations mixing it up...and one of 
them was an ESPN Station...and that was the one we were hopefully looking 
for. I listened for over 2 Hours between 0100 and  0315 EST. Heard lots of 
ESPN and ESPN DOT COM IDS. Lots of sports talk and Sports Scores etc. 
However....everytime the TOH or BOH  came up....there were always 
fades.....UNTIL we got to 0300 EST!!! At 0258 There were several ads...and 
one of them gave an URL for a webpage  ...the url was www.???.CA. The DOT 
CA at the end of the url confirms that it is for a CANADIAN Website.  CFAN 
is the ONLY CANADIAN Station on the Frequency.....not to mention the ONLY 
CANADIAN ESPN Station. At the top of the Hour was an ID for ESPN 960 The 
FAN!! No Call Letters or mention of Calgary....but with the DOT CA Url and 
the FAN Moniker...that is good enough for me!! The Signal was beaming 
EAST/WEST with the SONY  and Box Loop, confirming the direction the signal 
was coming from. There were very Deep fades on the signal at times....but 
also some great signal spikes throughout the 2+ Hours of trying to dig 
something out of this!! Thanks to those who first spotted this and reported 
it to the reflectors.
This is NEW for both the ULR LOG and the OVERALL LOG!!!

Radio Used was....................SONY SRF-T615 with 2 1/2 Foot Homebrew 
Tunable Box Loop.

ULR LOG Totals are now.............605 Stations heard.

Lots of ESPN IDS and ESPN DOT COM IDS. Sports Talk. Sports Scroes. Lots of
Talk of the CANADIAN JR. HOCKEY TEAM winning the GOLD MEDAL last night.
ESPN Radio promos for various ESPN Shows. At 0258 EST there was an AD
which gave a CANADIAN Website URL as "www.???DOT CA". ID at 0300 as
"ESPN 960 THE FAN". Into Football talk and Scores @ 0300 EST. Lots of talk
about the OHIO Buckeyes Game last night in Fiesta Bowl.
