[DX] Missä aurinko viettää talven?
Vihdoinkin selvisi, miksi täällä on niin kylmä ja missä aurinko viettää
talven.
Vastaus on El Centro, eteläinen California ... 8 mailia Mexicon rajalta.
Taajuudella 1230 toimiva KXO El Centro, CA kuului Lemmenjoella joulukuussa.
Asema kuultiin syksyllä myös Norjassa. Koskaan aiemmin signaali ei ole
kantanut Eurooppaan, vaikka asema on ollut äänessä jo 82 vuotta. Syykin
selvisi vastaustekstissä: lähetinkalusto on uusittu. tehoa on tosin edelleen
yksi kilowatti, mutta näköjään uudet pelit paransivat kuuluvuutta selvästi.

Yes I can confirm that is KXO AM , 1230khz , El Centro, California USA. .KXO
AM is one the oldest commercial radio stations in the U.S. We have been on
the air since 1927. El Centro is 110 miles east of San Diego , 8 miles from
Mexico..in the middle of the desert. Farming is our main industry..Including
significant dairy production.We are able to grow crops 12 months of the
year. Water is from the Colorado River via the All-American Canal.
In October we completed a complete renovation of all of our transmitting
equiptment. A 300 foot ERI tower, folded dipole skirt and total new ground
system. The first 220 feet of the tower is KXO AM . The ERI antenna for
KXO-FM 107.5 mhz is on the top. We are using a brand new solid state Harris
DAX1 1,000 watt transsmitter for the AM...A Harris 10,000 watt xmtr for the
FM with 50,000 erp. We serve Imperial County, California, Yuma ,Arizona and
Mexicali, Baja California with "The Best Oldies On The Radio." on AM and
"Todays Hits and Yesterdays Favorites on FM107.5.
