[IRCA] WHAS and IBOC



Been awhile since I posted here and the post about WHAS 840 dropping IBOC caught my eye.  I'm glad to hear this news and news regarding any other AM station out there doing likewise.  

I've also been wondering about how current lousy economic condx will affect AM broadcasters.  I'd think that profits would be down causing possible cutbacks on operations.  

I would think that other 'more attractive' methods of getting programming to listeners might be available via Internet, satellite, etc.  I take into account how English language shortwave broadcasts have declined.

I keep dreaming and hoping that something might open up the MW band a bit to even a fraction of what it was many years ago.  Back when stations signed off at sunset or midnight.  Dream on...
