[IRCA] TP for 20 Dec from Victoria, BC

A much improved morning, and it sounds as if I need to start listening no later than 1400UT, as that's when much of the signal strength seems to occur, even if there is a slight sunrise lift on some signals (for example, this morning had 828, 774 and to a lesser degree, 747, signing off at fair strength at 1600UT. At the same time Tagalog was heard on 1512 which is quite unusual here.

Listened on and off (mostly on) from 1415 to 1600UT. Might have been a good morning to have a Beverage on the coast. Our present outside temperatures limit the beverages to hot chocolate however.

pretty darn good audio (at least briefly):

747 JOIB at 1447UT
774 JOUB
828 JOBB

reasonable audio at times during the period (though often battling w/splash or noise):

189 R. Rossii; this seems to have good modulation, as was quite a bit stronger audio than 279 which had a stronger carrier
558 possibly JOCR, just music at its peak at 1441UT, so no language ID
567 JOIK //594
594 JOAK
648 Russia at various times
873 JOGB //774 (North Korea //3320 was also heard mixing with this after 1530UT)
954 JOKR w/JJ talk at 1542UT
972 HLCA
1512 DYAB? Tagalog talk at 1558, but in the murk by the top of the hour.
1566 HLAZ, usual big carrier
1575 VoA Thailand

not so reasonable audio, occasional words in splash or noise:
153 R. Rossii
279 R. Rossii good carrier, poor audio
693 JOAB //774 at 1522
711 mx at 1425UT, likely S. Korea
837 //594, so possibly JOQK, though there is a lower powered Hokkaido station also; in addition, there was mx mixing in which may have been China?
918 echoey CC talk at 1507; probably two other stations also
945 CNR1 //5030 at 1523
1017 not //NHK2, possibly China
1044 two stations, one CRI //7190
1134 JOQR w/JJ talk
1143 at 1520UT; seemed to be CC sounding, so Taiwan?
1242 two stations here, one seemed to be JJ talk, so JOLF
1287 JOHR
1386 NHK2 synchros //828

Burbles in the splatter and noise:

180
657 w/hum likely N. Korea
711
846 two stations
864
1008
1053
1116
1179
1188 good carrier, poor audio
1323 good carrier

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 1269, 1395, 1404, 1422

best wishes,

Nick
