Re: [IRCA] TP for 19Oct08: down some

> Only monitored from 14:07 to 14:40. Conditions were down from yesterday. CC and KK stations way down. The only highlight was Fiji on 639 at 9 level around 14:20. Minimal DU enhancement. JJ power houses were in, especially NHK2 this morning. Not much on the upper bands, with HLAZ only a 7 at best, and 6 for VOA. Taiwan on 738 not a bad signal at 7+, // to 1143. Vietnam an 8, so definitely something in the mill with propagation seemingly heading downhill again. Nothing to indicate anything in the A/K indices, with SF70, A4, K0. OK, off to work I go........Walt.

1, maybe 2 KM away, I was listening at exactly the same time...
and I would report exactly the same things... maybe a little softer
on the overall signal strengths - Highlights include a nice signal from Vietnam (675) for
a few minutes - better than usual 738 and what I call the "power-trio" on 936, 963 and 972
performing well.

Overall, I would say that late October is well off its game from a year ago -

Receivers used today:  2 X ALA100 --> Misek Phaser --> Drake R8, Barefoot Eton E1 and Grundig G6 Aviator.

Sidebar - the more I use the Grundig G6, the more I realize that it is a pretty sensitive
little unit for its size - and with a filter mod could be quite the contender.

Me thinks my Hawaii trip at Christmas will include the Eton E1, the G6 and the Sony Prison.
I am currently sourcing out a "pelican" style case to store all my gadgets for carry-on
for the flight. Here is an Optex version of it - http://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/7179894&category=digital-film-cameras
