I had a massive LSR boost - and that is when I started
eating my words...
My experience was slightly more like John's and slightly less
like Walter's -
But like you say, that water path makes a difference.
I am LOOKING at water... Port Angeles up to Neah Bay --
but that is a "body" of water - not the Pacific...
then again... John looks at a "Strait"
I also believe (no offense gents) that perception
plays a lot into what we actually think is happening...
I am not a big fan of SDR's and the associated software --
like Spectra-Vue... but what it does do is tell it like it is.
When I first looked at 1310 UTC I would have written of the
morning as a dud - but I waited... and when I did, I was getting
audio on blocks of frequencies on the Eton E1 and the Drake R8
with balcony mounted "under utilized" ALA100's --
With a better location I, too, would have been singing a similar
song to John - but I am where I am... and I can extrapolate from
that... that this morning was hopping for those in more ideal
locations.
