Still adjusting to Pacific Time here, so my first pass was 2 hours
before dawn at 1208. I heard the now-usual NHK1 on 567 at an 8 and
expected the same thing on 576.... NO! It was Russian!!! Was R.
Mayak probably from Petropavlosk (its a synchro channel for
Mayak). That was a very rare and unverified one for me, so I did my
Chickasaw dance around the fire and got a decent recording at 1230 of
interval sigs, etc.
In general, the morning was below average.... With Japan and many of
the Chinese/Koreans weaker than usual.... but the Russians kept
popping up. I noted 648 in passing and then stumbled on 666,
expecting Osaka as usual.... NO! more Russian!!! Was // 576, Mayak
and was either Komsomolsk running ND or Sochi....(hard to believe.)
Things motored along at a less than interesting level until about
1345 when I noted a strong station on 675 running American Rock/Pops
among other things. I followed this until 1400, when it began fading
(likka rock) with local dawn here. I think that it was Radio
Radonezh from Vladivostok.
Geez, it was an interesting AM!!! I'm going to run all three of
these past Walter before sending reports...........
Unlike Walter's place, Russians have been almost as rare as hen's
teeth here over the years.... except for 648 VOR/VOA.
It was a GREAT morning here!
