[IRCA] 500Kw Stations

Existing stations going to 500 kw would not be practical as several problems would result with normal AM receivers like overloading of those signals onto nearby or IF located frequencies occupied by other weaker locals: night time QRM into other areas with stations on the same Freq, and still no coverage in areas where stations are located one freq up or down..A good idea would be for such high power outlets to have their own single spots like at the lower end of the band between 500 and 540 KHz for greater daytime coverage and steadier dark signals.Transmitters would have to be situated far from the big cities like the Sask CBC 540 station which can cover its intended area with a good signal. In Ho;lland the two strongest AMers on 747 and 1008 with 400 KW are centrally located but provide good local signals in most of the country,In hilly areas signals could be weaker but that's the way it goes with.Bill in BC
