[IRCA] TPs from Orcas: Aug 15

It was another very good transitional morning, with about thirty audios. Today, for the first time, multiple Asians stayed in clear to dawn fade and most of the DUs were quite late and weak. At 1251, about 10 minutes to dawn, 774 Japan peaked at a solid 9 with the Aussie audible, too, but far down from the JJ. I listened to 1300 TOH on 774 for the first time this season.

There were several interesting Asians this AM. 621 seemed Chinese, but I wasn't smart enough to do the SW parallel for Heilongjiang PBS. 918, 936, 963 and 1017 were all in from China at 7s. 837 seemed either Chinese or NK, but VERY undermodulated. On 1053, the first time I tuned by, I heard typical NK martial music, but later it was all jammer. At 1230, 864 was in with an 8-level carrier, but very undermodulated.... sounded like 738 at its worst... not really sure who this could be, but this is the second or third AM that I've heard the same thing. The N.Koreans on 819 and 855.055 were both doing well for a while with martial chorus music. I think that they were playing the same piece, but not in //.

I sure hope that these mornings are leading to a superior fall season. The amount of JJ activity is just a little above the last several years, but the almost daily CC and North Korean activity seems very, very early in the season.... like by a full month or more.

Here's hoping!

I'll bet that Walter will stumble into a treasure trove of Asians as soon as he hits their cottage in the Queen Charlottes.... Man, it ought to be hip deep! Bon voyage, Walter!!!

I'm going to spend most of next week in Grayland, starting with dawn on Tuesday.

John B.
