Pat,

I think that Craig's is right about the +-10 KhZ carrier, since no hiss
was heard.  The carrier on 1540 & 1560 was about 10 db less than
on 1550.  Once the music came back on 1540 & 1560 were back 
to normal with stations heard without any noticeable splatter.
