Memories get vaguer with age, so I do not specifically recall if, or when, Indiana decided it would switch to daylight time in conformity with the vast majority of the rest of the country.
Just last year, as it happens. A few counties switched from Eastern to Central (or vice-versa) in the process, and there was much wringing of hands and many overwrought op-ed pieces in the papers.
In the end, the deed was done, though, and I no longer have to stop and think about what time of the year it is before I call my in-laws in Fort Wayne. Life appears to be going on there with few, if any, adverse effects.
