[IRCA] TP's for Apr 15

Started listening at 1250UT this morning, apparently just as things peaked, because, over the next 20 minutes things just faded down. First thing I heard was CNR1 on 981 kHz. Never thought I'd be hearing Chinese stations in April, but at least three this morning. Looks like Dennis might be having an interesting time at Grayland.

Asiatic unless otherwise noted:

pretty darn good audio (at least briefly): 1134 Korea (!) //972 mixing with presumed Japan, but dominant for a minute or so, 1566 (HLAZ, usual powerful carrier; was briefly audible on an SRF-39 modified with an outsize ferrite loop)

reasonable audios (though often battling w/splash): 594 (NHK1), 774 (NHK2), 972 (Korea),

not so reasonable audio, occasional words in splash or noise: 747 (NHK-2), 828(NHK-2), 945 (CNR1 //5030), 1053 (jammer, big carrier), 1206 (presumed KK talk from CRI under the usual hum), 1287 Japanese talk

Burbles in the splatter and noise: 981 CNR1 //5030 (briefly), 1242 Japanese inflected talk

Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 738 DU, 855 w/hum, 1098DU, 1323

It was odd that there were very few lower quality audios in spite of a number of higher quality audio; it seemed that is was either audio or a carrier with not much in between.

best wishes,

Nick
