Re: [IRCA] Call letter change

Guess I have not been paying attention the past few weeks, but noticed

Another historic 3 letter call down the tubes.
Sad, but it kind of had to happen that way in the end. 1430 WIL and 92.3
WIL-FM were owned by Bonneville, which wanted to sell the AM for some
reason.
WIL-FM is a ratings monster in St. Louis, and Bonneville didn't want to
take any risk that the AM, under new and relatively untested ownership,
might tarnish the FM's image, so one of the conditions of the sale was
that the call letters didn't come with the station.
It's not really as big a loss as it might seem - the WIL calls only came
back to the AM a couple of years ago, and if Bonneville (or whoever owns
WIL-FM in the future) were ever to reacquire 1430, they could put the
WIL calls right back there with no difficulty.
