Hi Guys:
Well....I just got finished using up my last 1/2 Hour Allotment of time
for the ULR Sprint Contest. The Fat Lady has sung....and of course as soon
as my time limit was up....I heard a couple more New ones.....but the Log
is closed...and they will have to wait til next year to make it into the
Contest Log.
It was fun.....and I am happy with my results. My Total Stations are little
below what I was hoping for......but you get what you get..and I really
don't think conditions were optimum...at least I can remember having much
better nights earlier this year. The Noise levels seemed a lot worse the
past few days. I live not too far from a LARGE HOSPITAL.....and it almost
sounded like I was getting noise from some of the Medical machines.....I
don't know if they still have Diathermy?? Machines....but it was that kind
of noise?? It completely covered several frequencies...and was spread out
over the band.....but concentrated in the middle part of the Band. There
were several SEMI-LOCAL Stations that I hear all the time...that I was not
able to log??? Very weird.
In any event....the logs are sealed....and the totals have been tabulated.
We'll see where I sit when the Judges scrutinize the entries.
I wish Good Luck to all of the entrants...and hope that everyone had as
much fun as I did. What better way to promote the Subculture of Ultralight
DX'ing!!!! At the very least....it hopefully got a bunch of guys twisting
the dials.....and doing what DX'ers are supposed to do......
No...Not complain about IBOC.....and Not Complain about Stations NOT
QSLing.....but rather turn on their radios and DX!!!
73................ROB.
