Bob,
You are preaching to the choir about the T615. It is a fine little RX.
I've used mine barefoot in the Sprint and it is a station magnet. It could
stand a better IF filter and a backlight wouldn't hurt although neither
would have made that much difference this weekend. Daytime locals are worse
because of the wide IF filter.

Yes Gil....that's the only Complaint I have with the T615.....is that the LOCAL STATIONS....(I have 3 ).....are about 30 to 40 Khz Wide during the day. At night they tighten up quite a bit...and I can easily hear stations on either side of their frequencies..and even logged WING 1410 ..right under my LOCAL CFPL 1410.

Guy is planning a cure for that problem.

That would sure be great!!

I'll bet being familiar with the dial was as big a help as anything for you
this weekend. You've sure logged the time with it.

Yes......I have spent a lot of hours tuning the T615 the past 2 months...and I pretty much know what I am going to hear under normal conditions. Especially during DAYLIGHT HOURS...I hear most of the same stations every day of course. Knowing the formats and slogans etc sure helps too.

I have only used 3 1/2 hours of my Allotted 4 Hours DX time for the contest as of 0900 am this morning...so I still have 1/2 Hour of Contest DX time left...and I think I will use that at SUNSET tonight to finish off my logs.

I am quite happy with my Results...both in Total Stations heard....and The America's DX Distance Category. Although....I am having some problems logging a few stations that I can usually hear ALL THE TIME...like 1590 WAKR....and 550 WGR, and 910 WFDF, and 1010 CFRB, and 1370 WSPD, and 1380 CKPC and a few others......Local Noise and QRM???? or just no Conditions to their Transmitter...I don't know..but I usually hear these guys EVERY DAY!! Maybe sunset tonight will bring 'em in!!

I had GREAT Conditions last night to South America and the Caribbean.......so I will have some pretty Decent Mileage for the Americas Distance Category. Good thing that area opened up.....'cause I didn't have much Distance with my Domestic Stuff!!

So....we'll see what happens when the smoke settles.......we'll see if those Super Modified Coasters have got what it takes!! HAHAHHAHA...

Hope everyone had fun during the sprint.....and hopefully everyone logged some NEW ONES while they were DXing in the SPRINT!! I had 2 New Ones for the Overall log so far...so that was nice!!

Take Care......ROB.
