Re: [IRCA] SRF-59: A List of "Firsts"

John,

These were my "personal" firsts heard yesterday (12-30-07); I don't know if
they are actual "firsts" for the SRF-59 radio or not, they were just the
first times for me:

 - first NDB: 526 kHz ZLS Bahamas
 - first "utility" reception: NAVTEX on 518 kHz, likely from Chesapeake VA
(wonder if it's possible to decode from the audio on the SRF-59?)
 - first Pan-American (non-Cuban) reception: 530 kHz Turks and Caicos
Islands
 - first Trans-Atlantic "het": 1521 kHz Saudi Arabia
 - first "K" call for an east coaster of a station west of the Mississippi -
1520 kHz KRHW Sikeston MO (700 miles distance)

All were on a stock SRF-59 with no external antenna. Gil Stacy of GA
subsequently reported hearing Radio ZIZ, 555 kHz St. Kitts yesterday on a
barefoot SRF-59 .

Tonight I have a het on 1215 kHz on the SRF-59, but since I don't get any
audio on my Drake, I am not holding out for any on the Sony :-)
