Gary,

I was probing around the 59's guts with a "digital dial" that I made from a
kit by KD1JV with the 59's dial preset to a known frequency and only had the
digital dial register a frequency at one point so far.  Unfortunately, it
also changed frequency when the dial registered so I wasn't able to
determine the IF offset because I wasn't sure what frequency I was listening
to.  Later this week when I have more time I will do more testing.

BTW, was there noticeable trade off of increased sensitivity for decreased
selectivity when you peaked the can?
