Really sorry to hear how horrible things were for the rest of the TP
regulars on here... It wasn't that bad here.... not great, but not
that bad at dawn enhancement.
Happily, I decided to forego my 3 hour before dawn start, though....
when I did hit the dials at 1345, 70 minutes before sun-up, things
were just pitiful. The only useable audio was the Big Three CNR1
stations, 639, 945 and 1377... all of them were doing fine at 1400,
as was 1575, VOA Thailand. There was mumble-level audio on the Big
Three Japanese and a very few other signals. Quite a few hets were
around, but most of them were quite weak. Worst morning yet.
Still, when dawn got cranking at around 1440, I had quite a few
interesting signals. The Chinese was on 810, over KGO; 837, Harbin
was HUGE for the second morning in a row. 891 had the Korean and
beneath, I think it was Radio Thailand. I'm really not sure of the
language on 909 and will forward it to Gary D (THANK YOU!). 1017 was
the CNR Korean Service, and they were running Chinese lessons (that's
political dynamite!) There were also interesting signals on 846, 882
and 1458... Unfortunately none of them rose above mumble level while
I was listening.
Probably the most interesting of the morning was what I'm pretty sure
was Radio Thailand on 1026. It was PROBABLY // to a much weaker Radio
Thailand on 891. I'll have to study that recording some more.
PATRICK, DO YOU HEAR THIS ONE???
Anyway, I'm not sure of the reason for the wide difference between
what I heard and The Gang of Three in nearby Victoria. It could be
that my larger/more effective antennas and the direct look up the
Gulf of Georgia (toward the east coast of Asia) make a larger
difference in marginal conditions than they do in good ones. Hummmmmmm?
Eight more dawns for me, then its off to the great southern Cow Pasture!
