I did send a message earlier that went through the purpose of it.  Just to
clarify, it's a ten watt signal generator that starts at 775 and ends at
805, in the case of WSKO-790.  535-565 when WDDZ-550 was under test.  The
mini-transmitter puts a signal on all those frequencies on it's way up, so
it would be heard by anyone listening to any of those channels.  There is no
modulation, just a moving carrier.  It definitely went through 780 this
morning, and was sort of a pest.  Not as bad as the splattery signal from
WSKO, though.

That differentiates it from sweep tones often played as part of a test.
This does mimic it, to some extent.
