Their response is the typical big corporate cop-out that some other stations
are receiving. They were prepared for DXers and listeners to scream about
IBOC interferrence and this is their stock answer.
How digital is enhancing anyone's enjoyment of WGN is beyond me, and I
bet(am not sure) it isn't even a 100% lock in downtown Chicago due to
building attenuation.
Again, my point to be made, if IBOC on HD-AM or whatever you want to call it
was a major improvement to AM, I'd be all for it, and even more so if it
didn't mess up two adjacent channels (or more if very close to you).
HDTV is a major improvement in video quality and doesn't mess up an adjacent
channel to the extent AM and FM IBOC do, so I am all for HDTV and consider
it an improvement, but on AM...what a useless waste of money, and almost no
listeners seem to care.
The proper way to approach WGN is not as a DXer but as a Cubs fan as the
Tribune owns both.
