Martin,
Thank you for your comments on the hobby as a whole. I TOTALLY agree
with you. The DX lists have become a place to complain on everything and
anything. I delete a lot of e mails myself as they are not DX worthy.
The "C" term I mentioned was because as not using it, is good for all
of us. The HD subject is tiring on me also. I don't like it anymore than
any of us, but in so many cases it is the same rehashed over and over
(no pun). It is a subject that is very near and dear to us all. But
maybe it is burnout with me. Too much of a good thing I guess.
OK, the subject of QSLs. Martin is right, I find some CE just do not
have the interest in QSLing. Some have called them useless pieces of
paper. I think not, when I have seen some historic QSLs on ebay going
for hundreds of dollars. Those of you that are into the historical side
of the hobby, consider QSLs collectables or antiques. The e mail QSL or
ppc does not have the value to me as a historic piece of letterhead or
that QSL card, but I take what I can get. I'll bet my 3500 MW/SW QSLs is
worth quite a piece of change if I was to sell it, but I would not. But
there is a value there. Probably not many have considered that. Look at
a program on collectables or antiques on PBS. I am amazed what some
things sell for. Besides that value, there is a beautiful historic
value. Like a station I have QSL'd under every call change. There is a
history there that the stations don't even realize. Having a station on
harddrive or tape is fine. I do the same, but that beautiful QSL has a
lot more value, if nothing else, in history.
