That is the $64,000 - scratch that - several hundred dollar question.  We
should know before DX season.  When I send it to Mark, it will be with
permission to open it up and do a very close look at it.  I'll do the same,
but having a review and analysis from Mark will be very useful.  I want a
true idea of just what the thing can do, and how it does it.  A "black box"
review is fine, but an in-depth one with circuit analysis will be better.

One of these days I will build another phaser myself.  The design will be
two "Tee" networks, series coils and shunt capacitors.  Each segment of the
Tee will have a certain inherent phase delay.  Coils will be wound on
ferrite toroids, and I have a massive variable capacitor from an older
Hewlett-Packard audio oscillator.  It has eight individual sections that
look to be 20-500pf each.  By setting the two halves so one decreases in
capacitance while the other half increases, a variable phase shift of at
least 240 degrees can be had.  Add in a 0-180° transformer and switch, and
it should do fine.  Gain can be a simple pot on each side.  What I need is a
box to put it all in.  Probably something the size of an HQ-180 cabinet will
be needed.  A "someday" project...
