Re: [IRCA] St. Helens Day Trip

Hello Patrick,

Thanks for your comments. KOHI's signal and modulation seemed fine
yesterday, so maybe it was one of the "good days." I was quite surprised to
find that KOHI was the dominant station on 1600 south of Centralia/Chehalis, and
another surprise was how suddenly KVRI's signal dropped in the hilly terrain
around Castle Rock.

I would have loved to check KOHI's signal to the south and east, but my
wife (attracted to Oregon by the lack of a sales tax) got stuck at the
Wal-Mart in St. Helens. So a quick band scan revealed that St. Helens, as
expected, was a fairly poor environment for DX, with the hilly terrain especially
limiting the signals from central Washington. It was also very interesting to
check the strength of the Seattle-Tacoma pests from so far south (almost
worth the trip, to hear them cut down to size, hi).

                       73, Gary
