Hi Bill
Actually Pietsch is German which was Bob's heritage. He was 2nd
generation American.
My given name is Marja Warger but here they call me Maria although it is
my middle
name as well. My parents immigrated when I was ten so I can read basic
dutch, understand it
and do try to write it to my two remaining uncles in Holland with the
English Dutch dictionary
open online. English is much easier for me and fortunately both uncles
can read and understand
English. I was pretty young so my dutch vocabulary isn't the greatest
but I like trying when it
is something short.
Bob was one of the big boys. He and Don Kasky go back to 1961. I met Don
and his
wife Eloise when we both had our first child which is 29 years ago now.
DXing was definitely
Bob's hobby. And although he is gone his email is still active so it
still gets posting. When I see
Don's name or something that get's my attention I read it and that's how
I got onto the message
board. I had asked Don to notify everyone through the mailing list about
Bob and am sure
not everyone saw it. A number of people emailed condolences and/or send
cards. It was very
heart warming and meant a lot to me to hear how well liked he was.
keep in touch
Maria (Rocklin Rocket) as Bob was known.
