Re: [IRCA] KOHI-1600: The Case Of The Missing Radials

I would be surprised if the KOHI radials are gone. They have been at
that site for about 20 years. It must be something else that is causing
the signal change. I do remember when KCKX 1460 Stayton OR came on with
1 KW ND day. I could hardly hear them on the coast. It took quite a feat
to hear them during the day. By LSS they were lost to other stations. I
went over to the station to pick up my QSL and met the manager Joe
Henry. at the time He told me that they knew they had a problem as the
signal did not make it into Salem 15 miles away. He was looking for an
engineer that could help. They were operating on a shoe string. Anyway,
a bit later the station was sold and within a week, the signal sounded
like a normal 1 KWer, easily received here. I have no idea what the
problem was, but the new owners fixed it. When Forrie was running KOHI,
the KOHI signal was quite solid out here 60 miles away. Now it is up and
down like a yo-yo. They need a good CE.
