Re: [IRCA] Problem With Kiwa Loop

Tom,

I'd highly recommend DeoxIT from Caig Laboratories. This is amazing stuff,
unlike any common "contact cleaner" (which I'd avoid; many are too harsh and
can harm plastics). DeoxIT actually improves conductivity besides cleaning
contacts. It's been around for years and works as advertised on all sorts of
electronic problems.

I suggest getting a spray can of the variety that's meant for potentiometers
(pots). I have a can of DeoxIT Gold for gold plated connectors, although you
can use it on silver and other metal-to-metal joins. The other type I keep
around (DeoxIT FaderLube-- formerly DeOxit MCL) is specifically for the
carbon tracks inside pots, which sounds like your application. This product
will restore a potentiometer to as good as new condition, unless the control
is so bad that the carbon has worn off by the "wiper" arm.

If you do a Google search on "DeoxIT review" you can read all about it.
