The Radio World article says 50 kw day and night - non-D during the day
and directional at night. The new towers will be one 329 footer and
three 199 footers. All four will be self-supporting to satisfy the no
guy wire cries of the environmentalists. It also says that the new
transmitter site is in a floodplain on farmland south of Snohomish which
would place it NE of Seattle. It said that this will allow them to reach
parts of Seattle that they presently do not reach. So it sounds like the
pattern will favor the SW. The article does also mention that the new
site will be HD capable.

When we built the new KCKK transmitter site we managed to satisfy the
environmentalists by using Phillystran black fiberglass guy wires
equipped with reflectorized "bird flappers" throughout their length.
These devices twirl in the slightest breeze making them quite visible in
the horizontal plane. The towers are not lighted or painted. We have
observed flocks of birds and geese flying between the towers and have
recorded no bird strikes so far. I also snapped photos of a large hawk
that likes to park on the towers near the top guy wire attachment point
to watch for prey on the ground. This hawk is always seen with a partner
who will not land on the towers but does like to circle around them.
