[IRCA] KRKO upgrade

There is an interesting article by Randy J. Stine in the latest issue of
Radio World about the many local hurdles that KRKO has had to face in
attempting to upgrade from 5 kw to 50 kw. Most of the hurdles have
concerned environmental issues. Despite continued appeals they expect to
begin construction of the new 4-tower array this summer. When the
upgrade is completed KRKO will be the ninth 50 kw station in the Seattle
area. The owners estimate that the upgrade will add an additional 1
million potential listeners to their audience.
