[IRCA] DX Update From Northern Delaware

DX update from northern Delaware:

I took advantage of the recent WWRU outage (for tower maintenance; thanks
to Neal Newman for the heads up) to nab a new one. Although I did not
record official call letters, the information that was captured appears
conclusive enough that I’ll call this a solid ID.

13-Apr-07 // 0102 local // 1660 khz. // WQLR // 1 kw night // Kalamazoo, MI
// Ad for B&G Discount in Schoolcraft with mention of 'west Michigan
businesses'. The on air address given for this business was 'US 131 just
south of Schoolcraft' which was confirmed via a Google search which yielded
the following (from http://www.insiderpages.com/b/15237607534):

B & G Discount
15632 US Highway 131 S
Schoolcraft, Michigan 49087

Schoolcraft is a few miles due south of Kalamazoo. (Only WQLR broadcasts
from MI on this frequency.) // New. A 545 mile catch.

Note that the below indicated clip starts off with an ESPN Radio ID that
ends with “ESPN 1660”. This might be from an over/under WFNA (a clear but
somewhat faint WFNA ID is heard at the end of the clip) but the indicated
ad starts almost immediately after the ESPN ID ends with no significant
change in audio levels. So either I was the recipient of a very fortuitous
and rapid rise of WQLR’s signal or WQLR carries some ESPN programming.
(Barry McLarnon’s excellent website indicates that WQLR’s format is AC.)

Since I also heard WWRU during the same recording session after they came
back on the air (not an especially difficult catch here in northern DE), I
figure I’d report this reception as well:

13-Apr-07 // 0600 local // 1660 khz. // WWRU // 10 kw // Jersey City, NJ //
Single time pip then “This is multicultural radio broadcasting, WWRU,
Jersey City” followed by “New York City, 1660 AM, WWRU”. // Not new, but
first time I recorded a legal ID. A 113 mile catch.
