Re: [IRCA] WARR and the Palefaces

Hi all....In the late 50's-early 60's , WBAZ 1550 Kingston, N.Y. 500
watts daytime ( now dark)..........used to sign off with: " Not by
choice, but by order of the FCC, WBAZ now leaves the air. Tune in tomorrow
at such and such time when we begin another broadcast day......." followed
by the SSB. This little station was a rocker, and sounded good, very
professional for a time......at one point, in the winter, they had only:
two deejays: Richie Allen, and Bob Badger, (who had worked at WPTR in
Albany). They each had two air shifts a day., but in the winter, it was a
very short broadcast day.....about 8-9 hours I guess too much competition
from WABC, WKBW ( in early mornings and late afternoons) plus a peanut
whistle signal probably led to their demise. Chris K4NHL near
Tigerville, S.C.
