*** When we're speaking of small local stations and local coverage, we
almost certainly arent talking about college grads here anymore, and I
don't know of too many high schools teaching journalism although there
are probably some.

I know that when I graduated with a degree in broadcasting I quickly
found out that I was either instantly overqualified for the entry-level
jobs at local stations or the pay they offered was too little to live
on. When I went to slightly larger stations, I was then unqualified
because I hadn't yet 'paid my dues' at the smaller stations.

Having loans to pay off, I had to work outside of broadcasting, and as
things played out, I never did. I can't believe too much in that
scenario has changed other than the relative numbers of dollars involved.
