I have to agree with Bob on this. Alot of the "local flavor" of radio is gone. As a teenager in the 60's I loved getting stations from the South - not only for the local news and ads but also just to listen to the Southern drawl. One that stands out in my memory was WHHL-1440 Holly Hill, SC. I heard this station in 1966 and had no tape recorder but I can still here the ID, spoken VERY slowly. "Dub-yuh... Aich... Aich... Ai-ul - Hollih Hee-ul, South Care-lahna."
Now, after living in Georgia for 3-1/2 years, I know that the Southern accent is alive and well. However, it is rarely heard on radio or TV and I am saddened by that.
