Oh my yes...Grant Manning!  Neat guy, made good antennas...The only time in the 60s that I came close to hearing a TA was one evening when Clarence Freeman from Auburn called me, alerting me to his reception of Dakar on 1206 (I think).  I tried but could hear no more than a weak carrier.  I still was primarily a domestic dxer then, but did love to hear Alaskans, Hawaiians, ZCO, 4QD, The Zedder on 1000 and many JJs that I didn't much pay attention to as I ignorantly didn't know about their time signals & IDs.  I learned that 10 years later.  Midway Island on 920 was one of my better catches now that I think about it.  Conditions were pretty nice then!
