Paul,
If you look at FCC ground counductivity charts for e. NC, and
specifically for Pitt County, North Carolina, you'll see that the boundary
for 4
mmho conductivity and 2 mmho conductivity passes south of Greenville (NC).
Grifton is inside the 4 mmho boundary.
Groundwave coming from the 2 mmho region is weaker than would other-
wise be the case.
Skywave is a different matter!
Yes, I am familiar. The Coastal Plains were once under the ocean, and are
much sandier than the norm. Hard to make a good DC ground here.
