frozen tundra that is Northeast Georgia and do just that.

I'd like to know how you've been serving me since 1964. Matter of fact,
ain't done NOTHING for me that I know
of.

AS to the buried power lines, it seems to me they are a whole sight quieter
RFI-wise than the overhead variety.

One thing, they are still going to convey RFI house-to-house as they do
now. That they are buried implies that
they won't radiate nearly as much overheads do.

Generally, either way, a single stepdown transformer serves 4-6 residences
at 120/240 V. A lot of the worse
RFI comes from nearby residences via 120/240V. An underground line tends to
have this filtered off by
capacitance to earth.

The RFI generated by the high side of overhead lines (generally 12..5 or 23
kV) tends to be very much quieted
by URD (underground residential distribution). That is a real blessing.

All you have to do is sweep the vicinity of the underground line with a
portable radio to determine how much
RFI it's emitting.

An antenna erected or buried at right angles to such underground lines
would tend to pick up less RFI from
them than one that runs parallel to them.

Sergeant New, you are directed to chase down RFI from your nearby
underground power and report back to
Squadron (IRCA) what you observe.
