Back several years ago when Napster was in its infancy I downloaded (I had a vinyl copy but no way at the time to transfer to digital) two versions of the song by Gordon Lightfoot. One was the version we all know and love while the other was a slightly faster (or so it seemed to my ears) version that seemed to also accent more the higher (treble) sounds. An interesting but not completely satisfying result.
Now on a somewhat similar thread...I loved the movie "The Perfect Storm" despite the overdone New England accents by some of the actors (at least George Clooney didn't even try and Mark Wahlberg didn't have to being a local boy). There is the theme song from that movie (altho I don't actually remember hearing it at the end of the movie) by John Mellencamp called "Yours Forever" that is very haunting and beautiful in the same way "the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is even though its not a narrative the way the latter is....it still fits the movie perfectly.
