Doug/Patrick,
680 was tough from here. The test equipment that they used at KTCT half way through their work started being used immediately on 680 when they took it down and that created a lot of noise to work through. My Grundig S350 (being incredibly cheap) gave me an extremely strong KLIV/1590 on 680 (1590 - 2x455), and the slop from that was encroaching on 670. 670 was strong Boise, strong Sonora, and presumed weak Simi Valley. 680 was only KLIV/1590. I went out to the car so I could use a different radio design. The car has its own problem, as there is a 10-minute timer after you turn it to accessory mode where window motion is enabled. During that time, there is severe hum where you can't hear anything but locals. This is a new problem. After that finally finished, 680 was only XESON/Hermosillo. There was NO ability to use a directional antenna there. I wish I could have had better luck on 680.

GM Patrick,
I didn't get a ton of audio from anyone during the off -period and I can
blame that mostly on local noise. I can only point the loop in a very
limited direction on 680. I had the SS music more than anything. No ID's on
anything. The Toronto station is interesting and doe's jibe with the highway
401 and temp. I'll take that as a tentative. It was a traffic and wx report
mentioning mostly "the westbound 401" etc. I'm surprised because it came in
better than CHFA, which I don't technically have, although I heard a man and
women in FF. The SS music intrigued me the most. Options being Oaxaca or
Cuba?? Maybe next time in the next century, hi. Actually, I'm still hearing
the SS music behind KNBR.
Thanks a ton Mike for all this. First time in about 30 years I've heard KNBR
off.
73- Doug
