[IRCA] Storm

Greetings,

Well, I just got through another nasty storm on the Oregon coast. This
one had sustained winds of 90+ MPH out here and gusts well over 100 MPH.
ON the South coast at the Sea Lion Caves, one gust was clocked at 142
MPH!!! There were trees down everywhere. It was a mess yesterday. Some
of you might remember seeing my place during the IRCA convention. I
commented that one of the Shore Pine trees in the backyard had a chunk
out of it from a lost limb last year. Well, the wind knocked the tree
down there went my SW EWE and 1500' Eastern beverage. Both antennas are
back up and working fine, but it took me over 4 hours to rescue the wire
and rebuild them.
The wind was rough all day with gusts of 70 MPH earlier, but around
Noon it really picked up. It finally ended around 6 PM. We lost power at
4:10 and the lights never came back on until after 2 AM, so about 10
hours.
One nearby house had the roof blown off and the place is toast. It
will take 20-30K to rebuild it. I put a metal roof over the shngle roof
some years back and it is fine. It has a 50 year guarantee.
But it really was something...A far cry from the sunny weather with
highs in the 70s & 80s in September during the convention.
The downed tree is still in the backyard, but my antennas are back up
and all is well here...until the next one strikes....Life on the Oregon
Coast.

Patrick
