Odd conditions at 1440UT.....774, 747 and 828 quite good audio at 
times w/EE language lesson, but most other channels didn't even have 
a carrier on them, yet 864, 1287 and 954 had weak audio (also 
presumably Japanese).

Seems quite variable though as 5 minutes later, there were more 
carriers,  747 had a big hum on it, audio on 1557 (American 
English....what??).  So maybe break out the receiver.
