Mike,

The gusts are in the 60 MPH range with todays storm. No El Nino or El
Nina this year. The weather service says the El Nino they thought
earlier in the season, when they forecasted warmer temps and less rain
never materialized. If it is there, it is too weak to affect the weather
up here. The weather service said, if anything it is a neutral year and
those years can be worse as the Jet Stream aims for the NW and it hits
us. A far cry from mid September with Summer weather during the
convention. A couple attendees said, they could not imagine the storms.
Well, at that time with 75-80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky, it was
hard to imagine. But today is another story and I am afraid more on the
way unfortunately. Hopefully the one on Sunday will not have the punch
they claim. Still too early to tell for sure, but it looks very rough. 
   The one thing about being on the other side of the hill in Astoria is
the winds are not as strong generally, but the Columbia River can be an
issue. So far nothing forecast with high waves, but as it gets closer we
will know more. Right now, we need to get through this one and have
several more hours. It should die down by late this afternoon.
